Damn. Today has been a pretty slow day as far as new music, but somehow more and more people come to P&P every day. I put a lot into this, and it’s awesome to see people are liking it. Thanks to everyone who comes here on the regular, all the people that stop by from time to time, all the other bloggers that’ve helped me out, and everyone responsible for all the emails I’ve been getting (I read every one of them). I’ve listened to a lot of music my whole life, but now it’s on another level. I feel like a giant audio filter in an ocean of noise. There’s a lot of great stuff out there though.
Anybody ever heard of the book The World Is Flat? I can see those same ideas of globalization being realized in the music world. It’s crazy how some band in Australia can send their home made tracks to a couple of blogs and, with a little luck, become the new buzz band in America. We aren’t restricted to just listening to what’s on the radio or what local bands are playing in our cities. I don’t know, just something I’ve been thinking about and appreciating.
I was gonna save these, as less known Kanye tracks are like a secret weapon for slow days, but fuck it, I can’t keep them from you. These are two of my favorites from The Graduate Mixtape. I’m sure a lot of people have heard them, but if you haven’t you should check them out. As emotional as 808s is, these two songs strike a chord with me. Both excellent songs.
