1) Release the video at the peak of the song’s popularity, enhancing the listening experience and further branding yourself through visuals.

2) Wait until the song’s popularity has peaked among fans, then plummeted, then slowly spread to the mainstream. Then, just as people start to forget about the song, hit ‘em with the vid.
