Here’s two more tracks from the supergroup Monsters Of Folk. Go here for the first track and some more info. Basically what you’ve got is Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Jim James (My Morning Jacket), M. Ward (She & Him), and another dude that has been around in various plaid shirt wearing bands. They’ve done an album together and it comes out next week.
These tracks have a folksy, sometimes country (eghck) influence and the guys seem to take turns in the limelight, making for an interesting guessing game as to who is going to be taking the lead singer role in each song. My only negative thing to say is the songs are a little bland. With guys as talented as these, you know you’re going to get good song writing. It’s delivered, but expected. I would have liked to see them travel down a new path together, instead of holding hands and trying to retrace their steps. Thanks to Will.
