Sondre Lerche – "Bluish" (Animal Collective)

Turns out Sondre Lerche and I have the same favorite Animal Collective song. He called “Bluish”, off of the widely acclaimed Merriweather Post Pavilion his favorite song of the year, and decided to show his love by giving us a cover. Instead of all the psychedelic swirls, Sondre stripped the song down to the basics and covers it only with his guitar and his voice.

One of the things I dislike about Animal Collective is that it sometimes takes half the song just for it to get going. I tell people…”Oh man you gotta hear this new track…just wait it starts to get going soon…just past this howling…oh, once this screeching and echoing laser gun fight ends….hold on, 3 more minutes”. I used to listen to a lot of Grateful Dead, so I like to think that I have patience, but is 3 minutes of ghost noises and pulsing vibrators really necessary? Don’t get me wrong, I love AC just like everyfuckingbody, but it’s nice to hear one of my favorite melodies without all the noise.
