Kellee Maize – Aligned Archetype – Female Rapper
Today I got a lesson in judging a book by its cover. The moral? Don’t do it. See that girl in the picture above? That’s Kellee Maize, a female rapper. Whatever your first impression was, disregard it. Kellee’s album Aligned Archetype is, at its heart, a hip-hop album. Built into it are Baltimore club, pop, and spiritual influences that make for a unique sound that has been getting a positive reception among fans and other artists. If you check out her MySpace, you’ll see she’s already made some good connections like ?uestlove and Cappadonna.

There’s no denial of a distinct East Coast sound here; Kellee is a Pittsburgh Rapper and is very obviously proud of her Pittsburgh roots, and her beats have a heavy Baltimore flavor.

Kellee’s music is a beautiful mixture of sounds that always makes you want to listen to it over and over again. It is great to listen to the words of her music because it actually has meaning! Her performances are full of energy and she always sounds great. This girl is one that should be in the main stream; she should be getting a Grammy!
I absolutely love this music. I could listen to it over and over again. Every time I hear it, I have to get up and dance. Kelle is an amazing girl, with great talent. I wish I could hear her on the radio every morning.

I love this too. And my ten year old daughter loves it too. She listens to Kellee all the time and I’m thrilled to have a female artist that she can listen to that imparts a positive message. So much of the music out there makes me cringe when I think about how its affecting her psyche and her self perception. Kellee is a welcome change.
Breaking walls (stereotypes and otherwise) is something that propels me, and effects my taste in artists. Kellee’s music exemplifies this self and community respect.

It’s great to see a fresh new sound coming from such an amazing lady! i love it when people break stereotypes. she may not look like your average “rapper,” but she has a very creative sound with hot verses to match. Watch out because she gone blow up yall!

Kellee was great in pgh at 222 ormsby a month or so ago! She was high energy, fun, sounded good live and had rhythm. I think the female MCs out there need to watch out, not really GaGa.

To all you naysayers, you obviously haven’t really LISTENED to her music and the important message she is conveying. She truly is “every woman”, and the girl can spit -woo! One of the things I love most about Kellee is how she opens peoples eyes to their own stereotypical thinking. Her look isn’t that of a typical rapper, but thats only because she’s not. Her style is more inspirational and meaningful than most rappers on the scene, and you can still dance to it, she’s defiantly someone to notice.
i love how every article mentions how Kellee can’t be judged by her appearance- she is a sick rapper, a real activist, sings about meditation and yoga– and oh yeah, she’s a white girl! She definitely defies stereotypes and makes some amazing music while doing it!
I saw this little blond get on stage during a fashion show and I was completely taken back by what happened next. Kellee Maize started rapping and the whole place was going crazy! It was totally unexpected but phenominal performance by Kellee!
