Mumford and Sons – "Cousins" (Vampire Weekend Cover)

mumforandsons 500x498 Mumford and Sons "Cousins" (Vampire Weekend Cover)

Mumford and Sons stopped by the BBC Live Lounge and pulled off this great cover of Vampire Weekend’s “Cousins”. The original version of “Cousins” has such a distinct, hyperactive Vampire Weekend feel to it and I was sure that any attempt to recreate that would be awkward and forced – I was wrong. Mumford and Sons have really owned this song. They start it off slowly, easing into each line before giving one run at a stripped down chorus. And then with a “1, 2! 1, 2, 3, 4!” the song takes off in classic Mumford and Sons mode and doesn’t look back. Don’t miss out on this one. Thanks to Will.

    I haven’t listened yet,

but I hope it’s exceptional, because those dicks over at pitchfork rated their album a 2.1 … (out of 10)

I thought the new cool was keeping the hate off the web, I really expected more from them. I mean don’t rate it if you don’t have anything good to say, which they didn’t, literally nothing good to say at all. They absolutely shit on ‘em.

I mean I understand that the album is a little bit repetitive… but c’mon.

You talking about the vampire weekend album? Yeah pitchfork can be pretty tough on bands, but its just their opinion. I still love vamp wknds music and I think contra is a fun album.

It was the Mumford and Sons album.

How good would a critic be though if they didn’t tell you when they thought something was bad?

na he means the mumford album. pitchfork gave contra like 8.6

Yeah, Pitchfork was super harsh on the Mumford & Sons album. I felt it was unwarranted, I liked the hell out of it.

Oh alright. Yeah I don’t know about P4K. I don’t go there as often as I used to. I don’t really trust them anymore with reviews, and I feel like they are sometimes trying to put a number on how cool they think an artist is instead of how good the music is.
