Music Video! Kid Cudi ft. MGMT – "Pursuit of Happiness" (Alternate)

Here are some alternate visuals for the Cudi x MGMT x Ratatat collabo off of Man on the Moon. I thought the original video was cool, but it got a pretty poor reception by most. This alternate version vs the original would be a pretty even fight, in my books. Which do you like better? Thanks to DDotOmen.

    Definitely preferred the original. The original really highlighted how alone cudi felt even when he was surrounded by what seemed to be an awesome party at a really nice place. Even happy people get stoned on a couch at home, but it takes a special kind of loneliness to be bummed at that original party.

    Also, the visuals in the original were somehow more memorable and captivating then these, which just seem kind of cheap and gimmicky. They don’t really fit.

    This new one tops the original in multiple categories. One, its thrice as trippy. Two, it fits in with the artistic style and theme of Cudi’s album a lot better then the original. Three, the song is not about getting wasted at a party with Drake, whereas the orginal video was. Lastly, its got RATATAT IN IT! HELL YEAH!

    Definitely better. This one fits the song a lot better and actually held my attention… Amazing at least deserves better than a pretty much normal club/party video…

    i raged when i saw the first one, it didnt fit the song at all! this video is a million times better and fits the song better, i actually had visuals of makin the music video when the cd first came out and i heard this song, this video trumps the “original”

    I feel the first one was more of a crossover attempt i.e Drake. I liked the “Party Vision” from the first but i like this version a smidget more

    Both have their good points. The visuals here really show exactly what it feels like when you are stoned. Believe me, it’s just as weird and confusing… but the first video, showing how alone he was even at a party where it looked like everyone was having the time of their lives, I think that catches the “Pursuit of Happiness” part better, where he wants to find iot, but it’s no where he’s looking. The alternate video does the nearly the same, if he’s trying to find happiness by getting high.
