NYC natives The Postelles have been gaining a lot of buzz recently. They are playing the festival circuit this summer (they’re actually the first band to play at Bonaroo opening the festival) and have been musical darlings in the city for a while now. They kinda got an early 90s pop rock/british alt rock kinda feel. They could like, totally be on the clueless soundtrack, and I mean that in the best way.

Shawn Anthony gained buzz after being featured on Entourage. This track has a synthy undertone thats added to with some dope drums and RnB vocals. It’s super relaxed and boppity at the same time. Yeah, boppity, it’s a word.

I know this song isn’t new and everyone everywhere knows it but OH MY GOD. This song brought all my friends together at Coachella and since then whenever any of us hear it it actually gets us high. This is a personal theme song of mine. It plays on the tiny boom box inside my head all the time. I’m getting too deep into this drink (which consists of Patron, fresh squeezed pineapple juice, and my special addition gummy bears) to come up with something cool and well written about this song. Fuck it. Songs great.

Dan Black is getting a lot of attention right now from his song Symphonies the remix of which features Kid Cudi. This song bumps. A love song for the young hipster couple who wear beanies and flannel in 90 degree heat.

Florence is such a fucking rockstar. Bitch owns. This song is like that empowering song in a movie when the girl is walking through the city in the sunshine just after she’s gotten her shit together and everything seems to be looking up. Does that make sense? You get what I mean.

If Julian Casablancas wrote a pop song this is what it would sound like. If you listen to Sirius XMU you’ve totally heard Neon Trees they play this shit all the time. It’s one of the infectious pop songs you’re going to sing the rest of the day after hearing it.

Randomly ended up to your blog after a google search of Dan Black’s U + Me =, so sorry for the year late response….but I must say I found this page to be an entertaining read. And because I enjoyed it so much I feel obligated to tell you that Julian Casblancas DID write a pop song, and it is amazing–”11th Dimension”. It would have gone great in 2010 with the rest of those songs, but it’s also pretty good in summer 2011.
