I’ve been hearing J.Nolan since early in my blog years (Ooh Jan 2009). He’s got heart, and he’s always solid, but I’m still waiting for him to take it to the next level and establish himself as something completely unique. These days, everyone raps, and standing out is the hardest part.
I know nothing about these guys except that they’re from Minneapolis. This track kind of blends a lot of the elements that have been popular in indie music lately, but it fails to engulf itself in any of those sounds or any new sounds, making it a pretty generic sounding indie track. 2011, what’s up?
Pretty cool beat, subtly flirting with those “For What It’s Worth” notes. Would’ve liked to hear the vocals sharpened up a little.

Ok then. Not even sure if I got the artist name right on this one, but @SteelTippedDove sent it over, and I dig it. This is that underground hip-hop with a little emo spashed in, all to be overtaken with industrial, experimental production. Nothing casual about it. Reminds me a little of Sole.
