AudioDax – Let It Fly

“Let It Fly” is a new track from electronic pop hop duo AudioDax. Hip-hop seems to be branching off into a lot of new directions, and AudioDax fits in well with the indie rock/pop influenced hip-hop that’s taking college campuses by storm these days. I’m sick of comparing everyone to Chiddy Bang, but it’s hard not to. The chorus on this one doesn’t sit well with me, but the production makes up for it. Check it out and let me know what you think, if you think anything.

I think this new college rap is great, but it’s getting so much hate already for not being “street”. Stuff like this makes up half of what I listen to today. Thanks for positing it and keeping me ahead of the curve

I think a lot of it is great too, but it definitely has a negative connotation to some people. A lot of the classic emcees dealt with topics of struggle, poverty, and hard times. Hip-hop’s foundation is built heavily on some of those themes, and I think some people are stuck thinking that’s what hip-hop should be limited to. Then there’s people who listen to the hip-hop about strip clubs, money, etc. and they don’t wanna hear about frat parties and flip cup.

I can understand both sides. I think typical college rap can be gimmicky and corny, but I also think some of the acts that are labeled as college rap are really talented and creative. Either way, I’m all for new sounds and styles within genres. Some people will like it, some people won’t, but that’s how music evolves, and it’s cool to watch unfold.

I really feel this song because it’s a change from the typical money, cars and hoes. Real hip hop in my opinion, is expressing yourself and that’s exactly what these guys are doing so props to them.

The chorus is weak in my opinion. I’m all about these new rapper and singer/producer duos coming on the scene and they’re producing the dopetastic beats that make my mind explode but you still need that catchy yet playfully intellegent chorus to pull it all together and I think that’s what’s lacking on this track. Dean and Ravo are making shit happen with their mixes and although they’re a slightly different feel, I think these guys could take some tips from them.
