There’s a lot to like about this new Wick-it the Instigator remix of the Luniz classic, “I Got 5 On It”. This of course has always been a laid back anthem celebrating the ritual of bros piling some change together to buy a $10 bag of greenery. Wick-it says fuck all that and flips the entire thing on its head. It sounds like dubstep, but it’s not. It’s drumstep, whatever the hell that is. Does this give James Blake the green light to start making post drumstep tracks that nobody gets now? I hope not.
Overall this is a high energy track, but things really get interesting around the 2:10 mark when Wick-it just drops an awesome Fugees sample right smack-dab in the middle of all the reefer madness.

Drumstep is a combination of dubstep and drum & bass. There’s been some pretty cool stuff happening in the genre lately, it’s pretty cool (IMHO).
