While playing at a nearby stage at Australia’s Big Day Out festival, Chris Cornell said of Kanye West’s set:
”Sounds like there’s children playing music there. Retarded children, retarded as in held back. There’s no other word for it.”
Apparently Kanye was late to his set and the audience was upset. Maybe Cornell saw this as his opportunity to side with the people and garner up some support for himself, since his fan base has been rapidly evaporating as fast as his relevance ever since that thing he did with Timbaland. But we’re going to resort to comparing other peoples’ music to the music made by “retarded as in held back” children? That’s just stupid. Stupid as in Chris Cornell. We’ll see. Maybe this is all a big misunderstanding and Cornell was referring to some special needs kids playing music nearby. But still, you shouldn’t call them retarded, Chris. This is 2012, you animal.
