Olu – “5 Million” (Prod. Gold Panda)

Olu x Gold Panda Olu 5 Million (Prod. Gold Panda)

Cleveland emcee Olu recently released this track off his upcoming mixtape Cover Letters. It features Gold Panda production, in case you couldn’t tell just by listening to it. Last year we fantasized about what a Gold Panda produced hip-hop track might sound like. While Olu is certainly not Raekwon (no disrespect / just sayin’), this collaboration does feel like it brings our dream one step closer to reality.

So what do you think of the pairing, would you like to hear more from Olu in 2012? Is Gold Panda’s production a fit or should he stick to a strict electro-script? Discuss…

The song was alright – I love the original.. You make it sound like Gold Panda produced this track with the intention of it being used for hip-hop but it’s a pre-existing Gold Panda track simply being rapped over… I think Gold Panda , however, would make a cool hip-hop track

  2. CK says:

I’m not sure if Gold Panda produced this specifically for Olu to rap over (as Monster’s post implied) or if Johny’s comment is correct in that Olu just took Gold Panda’s production and rapped over it, but either way, I think the production and rapping go very well together hand in hand. Cool song.

@Johnny you may be right. Everything that I read about this track indicated that it was produced for this purpose, but that could be wrong. I’m certainly no expert on Gold Panda but do enjoy his sound.

Can anyone find the instrumental version of this? The beat is sickly !! Other people need a shot at it

Again… this was NOT produced for Olu… it’s an existing track that i’ve been listening too for a year and a bit now.. The song is called “Marriage” off of their LP “Lucky Shiner”

Johnny is correct. Really liked this though, OLU did the beat justice. check out blackbird blackbird’s remix of the “Marriage” instrumental too, its really well done.
