Video: Bloc Party – “Octopus”

Screen Shot 2012 07 10 at 2.42.55 PM Video: Bloc Party Octopus

With the Bloc Party comeback in full swing, it was only a matter of time until we got some real material. The first single from Four is here, with a video to match. On first listen, it seems like the band is up to its old tricks – the sharp guitars of their debut are pushed to an extreme by the staccato riffing here and the overall sound couldn’t be mistaken for another band in the world right now. The video itself is appropriately jumpy, and it’s impossible to deny that it’s good to see Kele & co. back in action.

Huge Bloc Party fan, not really feeling this single though. Their first singles haven’t been their strongest since Silent Alarm though. Maybe it will grow with more listens.

@codine Same here. It took a couple listens for me to get into it. It’s definitely a lot more reserved than the songs on Intimacy but that’s why I like it. Seems like they might be going back to the Silent Alarm days.
