Grimes isn’t your typical pop star, and that’s part of the reason we love her. She is weird, creative, and carries herself with a wide-eyed, innocent excitement that acts as an unlikely but welcomed compliment to her mostly dark, experimental music. She does drugs and stays up for days at a time, she makes weird squeals instead of typical mic checks, and she’s got an effortless cool that lives somewhere between awkward and entirely at peace with the world.
