Will Kanye West Be a Judge on American Idol?

TMZ reports that Kanye West is currently negotiating with the producers of American Idol to appear as a judge on the show. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kanye news story if it was without the musical mastermind’s trademark bombast and edge:

But [Kanye’s interest] doesn’t mean he’s on board — we’re told Yeezy is still unsure about accepting the gig. The way it was put to us … “He’s on the fence,” because he’s not sure if “A.I.” is in his wheelhouse.

And there’s another big hang up — cash. Informed sources tell TMZ … “Idol” would “at least match Mariah’s salary” — a cool $18 mil a year.

TMZ also noted that Nicki Minaj may be locked in as a judge on Idol, but the show’s producers may still be in the hunt for a fourth judge, with Kanye representing a serious score (though others in the running include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Enrique Iglesias).

What do you think? Would the potential of a Kanye rant make Idol must see TV?

If Idol is looking for the fast track to ratings gutterville, then yeah hire the blow hard.

how many televisions do you have bloedig? i think there is no doubt that ratings would soar if he became a judge. love him or hate him he would make great television and everyone knows that.. besides, ratings would never plummet off one judge – how many people like simon cowell? hmm.

Nah. Just focus on getting Nicki. I don’t see Kanye really gelling on AI. If it was X Factor– yeah, but AI– no.

how does nicki minaj qualify as a judge of music

And I give Idol 2-3 more years tops. Use to love Idol, but only watch the train wreck episodes (first couple) now to see the people that really can’t sing. lol

The “judges” they have now, and all the ones they are talking about, are very boring and will have little constructive or helpful to say.

I guess KW would at least tell everyone “it was good, but not as good as Beyonce”. ;)

Do you have Netflix? If so I recommend the movie, “God Bless America”. It’s about a depressed guy that gets fed up with reality t.v. (including A.I.). He eventually goes on a killing spree – reality t.v. stars.

You might find yourself laughing at some parts and question if you should seek psychiatric treatment afterwards.

SPOILER: There is a big finale on the stage at A.I.
