There’s always a fine line to toe when musicians bring politics into their music: on one hand, the musicians wants to get their message across; on the other, and more importantly, the music should still be, to put it simply, good. Enter “WAVIP,” a collaboration between four political, talented underground MCs. This passes the music/politics litmus test: Boots Riley, Killer Mike, and Heems and Kool A.D. of Das Racist craft a funky, downright infectious song that isn’t unbearably political. Listen below:
