Lillian Todd-Jones’ father led a performing arts troupe around festivals in the ’90s and Lillian became a fire-dancer, a stilt-walker, a rope-climber and Thai food-eater. It’s hard to say exactly how this has affected her music, but she’s touted as possessing “a childhood innocence met with a deep-set maturity,” and that’s pretty dead-on. There’s a theatrical element to the building “Butter Soul,” no doubt magnified by this visually striking video, and this “Butter Soul” clip has won Lillian Todd Jones a spot on my long list of crushes.
