Video: Villagers – “Nothing Arrived”

Screen shot 2012 11 20 at 22.40.54 574x400 Video: Villagers Nothing Arrived

The third song we’ve had a chance to hear from Villagers forthcoming sophomore album {Awayland} comes in the form of a mildly depressing but highly engaging video for “Nothing Arrived.” The visual follows a day in the life of office worker Terrence Bliss, who’s usual drudgery is interrupted by something rather exciting. The song itself is a softer, more acoustic track than the absolutely brilliant “The Waves” and just serves to get me ever more excited for {Awayland}’s 14th January 2013 release date.

Extra bonus cleverness points for anyone in the comments who can tell me why Terrence Bliss is such a clever name for the video’s main character. Hint: listen to the songs chorus.

The character’s named Terrence Bliss after one of the song’s verses: “What were we hoping to get out of this? Some kind of momentary bliss?” – Moment-Terry Bliss.

(It’s probably not fair that I answer this since I already published the explanation on YouTube and I also run the band’s appreciation blog on Tumblr but I saw the challenge and I couldn’t resist, ha.)

PS: This site could be helpful as a Villagers resource (not official but 100% approved by Conor himself): http://almost-halfway.tumblr.com/

*sending it again because i’m not sure if it worked the first time*

“”Extra bonus cleverness points for anyone in the comments who can tell me why Terrence Bliss is such a clever name for the video’s main character. Hint: listen to the songs chorus.””
it’s from the lyrics “MOMENTARY BLISS” sung at the 44 second mark (“terry bliss” = “terrence bliss”)
