Brolin – “Another Year”

It’s hard to figure out how to classify singer/producer Brolin exactly. While his gorgeous “Another Year” bears some similarity to songs by artists like Youth Lagoon and Bayou, the track feels organic and sparse in a way that places it worlds away from the bass-y concerns and modern production of the bedroom electro-soul revolution. “Another Year” is quieter, never breaking beyond a sort of three and a half minute whisper, save for the invasion of crowd noise–a properly unsettling addition that cuts through the ache with an air of anxiety. It’s a beautiful invitation to a would-be lover and friend.

Who is Bayou? Can’t seem to find him on the internets. This a writing fault or just an extremely underground producer?

Lars–we forgot to tag our one and only post about Bayo from earlier this year. It’s properly linked now, but here it is if you don’t feel like clicking:
