Listen to Burial’s “Truant” EP

BURIAL TRUANT EP Listen to Burials Truant EP

Not many hold a candle to what Burial does, production-wise, and with his sporadic release schedule, his singles and EPs end up feeling like mini-events. Lucky for us, all of these events have been truly spectacular. On his latest EP, Truant, you’re treated not to two tracks, but two movements. Both are over 10 minutes long (with one of the sides clocking in at almost 15 minutes), and contain a number of different pieces of sound. Feels more like the Miles Davis In A Silent Way-era, where he was exploring his electronic side while adhering to the jazz movement. You’d get ideas that are built upon, destroyed, and seemingly forgotten – only to then be reconstructed and brought back to life. That’s what Burial does. And it fucking rocks. You can listen to clips of both sides via Hyperdub.
