15 Albums That All Hipsters Love

hipsters-love

"Hipster" has almost become a dirty word, but if we're being honest, they've usually got pretty good taste in music. Often driven by creative and forward-thinking aesthetics above all else, hipsters and music snobs are often one and the same. Beyond the ironic picks and the "whatever band is about to be buzzing next" ideals, there are some staples that every hipster has to have in his/her collection. Here are 15 albums that every hipster loves.

Random question, but does anyone really like The Strokes?

I love them. I even got to the front row of their Lollpalooza concert a couple years ago. But I dont feel like the average hipster digs them at all. Jules’ voice is to gritty. But I do agree that Is This It has to be an important song b/c it started so much.

    *album not song

Well… I guess I am, because I have every single one of these albums. It’s about the music not a contrived stereotype label.

Dumb list. I’m gonna stop paying attention to anyone who uses the word ‘hipster’ in 2013. Shit is as dead as a doornail.

stupid list. I’m gonna stop paying attention to anyone who uses the word ‘hipster’ in 2013. Shit is as dead as a doornail.

  • Gramsey

Daydream Nation was released in ’88 y’all

  • Rob HM

Hipster were around before the 1980′s you know.

Jack Kerouac would hate the hipsters of today, but then he hated the hipsters of the ’50s that he created, too.

  • Chris

And with one article, hipsters immediately started hating all these albums

having good taste in music is one thing, being trained to say you like the stuff people that have good taste in music listen to is something else (it’s a bit complicate but if you have an IQ higher than the average hipster you should understand it)
Thing is, when they’re left alone hipster just listen to shit, others keep on listening to interesting music wether it makes them look trendy and cool or not.

and yes Devin Middleton, i like the strokes too :)

Neutral Milk Hotel. Never liked the band ever. Never will but saying that I dislike the band makes me sounds like a bigger hipster than I actually am. I just don’t get all the hum bub over NMH. They aren’t that great.

    Surprised a Smith’s album wasn’t on here

  • Daniel

    great post though!

I may hate labeling anything and everything as a hipster something (a word that has absolutely no meaning any more) … BUT …

I was wondering where ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea’ was in the list.

  • Jetsfoo21

It was number#1. Honestly it was one of the only albums I was certain would land there (had a hunch on Grizzly Bear). I feel like something from Joy Division should have been added, although it isn’t nearly as acessible as the other albums.

  • korman

I meant I was wondering where it was ‘before’ I read it. Sorry, wasn’t clear.

    nope none of them. unhip

  • duh

    madvillain

  • Jeffro

So hipsters range in age from people old enough to appreciate Portishead and young enough to know about Grizzly Bear? Could this just be a list of good quality music?

  • D. Rose in the paint

No CamRon “Purple Haze” or The Clipse “Hath No Fury”

    canyou.me

  • ndh

    No xx?

  • sobercool

    Where’s Loveless?

  • John_wynne

THIS IS A BULLSHIT EXCUSE OF A POST!!

  • Dayman

missing some joy division and pixies, but otherwise, a pretty solid list. i do hate that poorly written articles can hide under the guise of anti-hipster hate though.

  • person
