Torres – “Honey”

22-year old Nashville, Tennessee native Mackenzie Scott credits finding her sound when she made the move from acoustic to electric. And it makes sense; her songs have the structure of straightforward folk, but with the rough, obstinate edge of raw alt-rock. Under the moniker Torres she spent five days recording her debut album and the results, displayed to great effect in “Honey,” are powerful. You’re going to hear comparisons to PJ Harvey, Wye Oak, and even Sharon Van Etten, but don’t assume this is anything but a unique newcomer to the scene if the rest of Torres’ songs are as good, and gritty, as this one.

Your tweet brought me here and im sad that I missed this originally. Her sound is dope. I love it when a more traditional pretty voice goes over distorted gritty music.
