Snoop Dogg/Lion has come a long way. Back in ’93, when the Cali rapper was recording his debut album Doggystyle, Snoop was charged with murder. He’s had multiple run-ins with the law due to possession of firearms, but here we are in 2013, and the 41-year-old rapper is on a song with his daughter Cori B. and Drake. And it’s a reggae song. And his name is Snoop Lion. And it’s a song of peace, non-violence, and no guns allowed.
A lot of people are questioning the authenticity of Snoop’s transformation, but the real transformation here goes deeper than a name a musical style, and with all the negativity in the world, is that really a bad thing?
