Diplo Reacts to the New Daft Punk Album

Daft Punk‘s new album has been available for streaming for a bit over 24 hours now, and a lot has been said about it already. Perhaps one of the more interesting reactions to the album is Diplo‘s, who tweeted some thoughts about Random Access Memories earlier tonight.

Comparing Diplo’s sound with that of Daft Punk’s is like pitting apples against a rotisserie chicken, but as a producer of electronic music that’s “current,” Diplo’s opinion holds some weight. Check out the tweets from earlier tonight above, and the video from his last tweet below. What do you think about his tweets?

He might have a point about young people not ‘getting’ it. Who can tell if youngins brought up on Skrillex will appreciate Daft Punk? Or have the attention span?

@Pete I totally agree with you. The album is incredible and especially amazing for all of us who have been waiting for so long to hear the new sound Daft Punk will create AND HERE IT IS. its beautiful and the sounds inspire me which is what music is about….LIFE IS GOOD.

Is he attempting to insult the album by comparing parts of it to the works of legendary steel guitarist Pete Drake or is he complimenting it? Hey diplax, I am confuse. As for “less ragtime and more sidechain.”, Sidechaining is the one thing I know for goddamn sure the world need less of right now, jesus fuck. What it does need more of is FUSION.

It’s kind of funny that he makes that comment, then later on compares one of the songs to Michael McDonald, like any of the “youngins” know who he is.

I listen to what I like not what someone else says, people really need to stop it with what other people think and start thinking for themselves…it’s gettin old and we are passing up good music simply because someone writes it off, someone who is a person just like us, he said himself they are smarter than me…no shit. But in truth young people WON’T GET IT. And those who do “GET IT” know what has been made is a labor of love and you can hear it very clearly.
