Brazilian Rapper Shot and Killed While Performing, Footage Goes Viral on YouTube

Daniel Pellegrine, known as MC Daleste, was tragically shot and killed while performing in Campinas, Brazil, and the incident was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube. Almost 4 million people have watched the unsettling clip since it went up this weekend. The 20-year-old artist was rushed to the hospital but died early Sunday afternoon. There is no information out on suspects or arrests.

According to Billboard, a friend posted on on Pellegrine’s Facebook wall, saying, “I hope God gives strength to the family, friends, and fans of my good friend MC Daleste, a guy who only wanted to convey joy to everyone through his music. It is a pity that the peace which we dream of, we often only get when we close our eyes.”

I think Brazil is showing over and over again that they are not fit to host anything…much less the world cup and the summer olympics..

That’s what you took away from the video, not the tragic loss of someone’s life.

Are you aware of what just happened with the soccer ref and player? The ref stabbed the player and killed him, and then fans killed the ref, BEHEADED him, and put the head on a stake. Jut’s comment is pretty fitting. I was in the middle of planning a trip to Brazil for the 2014 world cup, and multiple incidents like this certainly give me pause. It isn’t really new … my eyes were first opened when I watched City of God a decade ago. The poverty, violence, and little value given to life are something that hopefully be addressed and some point, and not just swept under the rug so that they can host tourists.
