Before you get your hopes up: nobody got resurrected, nobody was found on a secret island, and nobody ripped off a mask Scooby-Doo style to reveal either of these music legend as alive and well. There is, however, a llama involved.

Earlier today, news broke that at least three tracks Freddy Mercury and Michael Jackson worked on together have been unearthed. According to Queen guitarist Brian May the tracks will be released in about two months. The work was originally done in 1983, but the California sessions fell apart when tensions arose between the two. One incident involved Jackson bringing a llama with him into the studio because, among other things, if you have the means and power to bring a llama into a recording studio without somebody screaming “WHAT ARE YOU DOING, GET THAT LLAMA OUT OF HERE,” you better goddamn do it. Mercury is reported as calling lawyer Jim “Miami” Beach with a request: “Miami, dear, can you get over here? You’ve got to get me out of here, I’m recording with a llama.”

The tracks in question are “There Must Be More to Life Than This,” “State of Shock,” and “Victory.” Later versions of the songs have surfaced in both artists’ catalogues, but these collaborative demos will be seeing the light of day for the first time.

In the meantime, let’s take a poll: Freddy or Michael?

That’s a tough one, but gonna have to say Freddy. But I’ve been listening to “Scream” a lot so that was really hard. This is awesome, I’ve been wanting to hear their collab for years. Thanks for making my day!
