The Pixies may be without Kim Deal, but that hasn’t seemed to slow Black Francis and co. down. The band released a second video for their new track “Bagboy” (check the first one here) today and announced four New York/Brooklyn shows for September 17-20.
This second video is a wee bit darker than the first, a stop motion display of chalky skeletons and Frankenstein roosters. It’s probably more in line with the Pixies themselves, though. The high contrast and disembodied spookiness is alternately goofy and terrifying, and — technological capabilities aside — it feels like this video could have been released back in the days of Surfer Rosa and Doolittle. No word yet on an album release, but “Bagboy” is a good indication the band still has its sound in the right place. Check out the second video here.
