I’m sorry, when did Jay-Z become an art aficionado?

  • Dedric

How hater of me to ask that as if I knew enough about him. Although, I honestly wonder. I imagine the answer would make an inspiring story.

  • Jay-S

Of all the adjectives that come to mind, boring is probably at the top of the list.

Confusion what was your opinion? I know you have one.

To be honest, I may be alone on this. I don’t think there’s anything amazing about what Jay did with this whole stunt, but I like the idea of it. I think it’s cool to see hip-hop in this context, and at this point, Jay isn’t going to be leading the next wave of hip-hop. He’s old. But he can, as he explained, help bridge whatever gap is left between hip-hop and other communities (art, big business, etc.) I don’t think there’s anything harmful about that. If anything, I think it’s another step toward fully legitimizing rap in the eyes of people who used to dismiss it. I still haven’t fully decided. I hate the way he’s gone about a lot of things, and I think it all feels a little forced and inauthentic but I like the idea.
