Lorde – “Team”

As the fervor around “Royals” reaches a fever pitch (and the sales follow–only Katy Perry’s “Roar” outsold it last week), Lorde drops off her latest single “Team” with the following message:

“i am in paris as i release this. every street we drive down makes my eyes pop with the most incredible things carved in stone, and gilded on pillars, and wrought with metal; the heroes and heroines of this city aren’t so hard to find. this song’s are a little more mismatched, less classic courtesans on their pedestals, but nonetheless brilliant. this song is kinda of that world, and at the same time, very much of this one. enjoy.”

Beyond her years as ever, “Team” is another delicate anthem, rousingly pop-y and sharply written: “I’m kinda over getting told to throw my hands up in the air/So there.” Add another feather to young singer’s cap as she hurtles ever faster towards stardom.

Quoted the best line of the song, so dope…

Side note, when I was 16 I thought “wrought” and “gilded” were Teenage Mutant Niinja Turtles’ nemeses (eats bagel bites)

The intro is just awesome. I can imagine a lot of rappers spitting a 16 on it.
Also, I feel like Kid Cudi would sound stellar on this song.
