Meg Myers talks about music like it’s a matter of life or death. When we interviewed her, she said, “I just still feel so much, maybe more than a normal person feels, and it’s really hard. I have to, to be able to do this, to scream onstage. It just feels so good because I don’t know what else I would do. I don’t know I’d die or something.”
You can feel this passion in her music, and “Desire” is one of the strongest examples of it yet. It’s visceral, filled with lyrics that feel like they’d cut clean to the bone if they could. Musically the song balances a ’90s rock sound—including a massive guitar solo—with more modern production. On Meg’s last EP, it sounded like she was still finding her lane. With “Desire,” it sounds as though she’s found the sweet spot.
“Desire” is available tomorrow and her EP will be out in January on Atlantic.
