I heard Iowa rapper Nom’s “The Christening” about a week ago, but passed over it like, “Yeah, this is good.” A couple days later, I found myself watching it again. Then two other people recommended it. Now I’m sitting here watching again because I don’t care about the Emmys and Elton John’s performance was boring.
“The Christening” feels a little amateurish. It’s not polished and the video leaves something to be desired. But each time you revisit NOM’s “The Christening,” you’ll get a little more attached to it, and in a climate where most songs get overplayed and more boring with each repeated listening, that says a lot.
