Kendrick Lamar Disses Drake in His BET Cypher

There had been rumors swirling around the internet but now we have confirmation. During Kendrick Lamar‘s BET Awards 2013 Cypher, the Compton rapper took shots at Drake, calling him a “sensitive rapper… in pajama clothes” and “a fake.” The BET show doesn’t air until October 15, but the cyphers are recorded in advance, with this 15 second clip from the TDE’s effort somehow leaking.

All this stems from Kendrick’s “Control” verse, which seemed to be based on a healthy sense of competition and love for the art of hip-hop, so while it’s certainly interesting to hear Lamar taking direct shots at Drake’s, hopefully the rest of his verse will come with something a little more impressive, and lyrical, than “pajama clothes.”

Odd seeing as they’ve collaborated more than once, I wondered what happened

Also that high five was awesome

Well, Meek Mill collaborated with Kendrick, too, but that didn’t stop him from trying to diss him after the Control verse. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t see how that line pertains to Drake specifically. Who said it was and why should we believe who ever blogged it? I’m pretty sure it’s just a cool sounding, vaguely targeted, braggadocious rhyme.

I’m still psyched to hear this cypher though! It seems Kendrick has another killer verse everyone is gonna be talking about.

it could just as easily be aimed at macklemore? pajama clothes=thrift shop video

Well, for those that dont get how this is directed at Drake let me learns ya:

“Nothing’s been the same” reference to Drake’s new album title: Nothing Was The Same. “Sensitive rapper”…do I really have to keep explaining this?

    See Zilli’s comment above…

Buried alive interlude on Take Care…to hell with consistency I suppose.

Drake is soft, I guess some anger will be more fun than love all over. It’s funny coming from Black hippy though.

apart from macklemore and tde are pretty tight – and the sensitive line + nwts makes it too obvious – if anything this could be interpreted as a dig at papoose

How do yall not get this?! It was a direct shot. Nothing Was The Same -Drakes album which had the song the Language which was more than likely aimed at Kendrick.

“Nothings been the same” “Soft rapper”-a clear shot at Drake who is notoriously known for being shot.

You don’t even have to read between the lines for this. It really doesn’t take half a brain dude.

Smh… It doesn’t take a genius to realize this was aimed at Drake.
