Listen to Friendzone’s New Album and Watch the Video For “Poly”

If you already know Friendzone, it’s most likely due to their production work on A$AP Rocky‘s  “Fashion Killa,” or their longtime collaboration with Main Attrakionz (they produced the cloud rap duo’s upcoming album 808’s  and Dark Grapes III), but the Bay Area two-piece has more to give than just contributing to other artists’ work, and they’re proving that by self-releasing a debut instrumental album called DX.

The twelve-track collection showcases Friendzone’s distinct sound—swirling, smooth vocal loops with crunching synthesizers and drum machines to create hazy, uptempo beats—and today the duo released a self-made music video to correspond with the record’s first single, “Poly.” The video mimics the track’s frenetic energy with live clips interspersed with computer-genereated animation, all flickering with hyper-colorization. It’s like swimming in the mind of a person dreaming on acid and hoping they never wake up so you can see these images and hear these sounds forever.
