Hear 9th Wonder’s Jamla Records’ “Jamla is the Squad” Compilation

As a producer, 9th Wonder is among the best of the best. And as the head of his own independent record label Jamla Records, he’s built a cohort of young, talented rappers, producers, and singers including North Carolina MC Rapsody. Today, he releases the label’s Jamla is the Squad compilation, a 25-track project that marries 9th’s labelmates with some of the most revered rappers in underground hip-hop: Talib Kweli, Blu, Elzhi, Pete Rock, and Phonte as well as Jadakiss and Styles P. Standouts include a previous Best Song of the Week pick Rapsody’s “Illuminaughty,” her blistering collaboration with Blu “Life of Pi,” and the jam-packed “No Competition.”
