Tupac was Asked to Audition For the Role of a Jedi Master in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”

Well, this is weird, but in the way that melon and prosciutto is weird, or when you used to let school glue dry on your hands so you could pick it off weird. According to the New York Daily News, Tupac Shakur was to audition for the part of Mace Windu (Korun, Jedi Master, Master of the Jedi High Council) for George Lucas’ blockbuster, Star Wars: Episode I.

As Death Row Records’ former Chief Engineer Rick Clifford recalls, Tupac had told him that he “was supposed to read for George Lucas and them,” and Lucasfilm had “wanted [Tupac] to be a Jedi.” Of course, the role eventually went to Samuel L. Jackson, who did a great job of playing Mace Windu, but how different things would’ve been if Tupac was a Jedi Master.

Lucasfilm has yet to confirm Rick Clifford’s comment.
