Kid Cudi Would Rather Have Been Left Off of Kanye West’s “Guilt Trip”

Kid Cudi released his fourth studio album with a flourish, surprising fans the day before the midnight liberation of Satellite Flight. Cudi sat down with Complex to talk about the album, his acting, and his work with Kanye West. The two collaborated on Kanye’s “Guilt Trip” last year, and by the sounds of it, he has had some thoughts regarding his contribution since:

The vocal that I did on that song was a couple years old. I forgot which session it was… Part of me was flattered, like, it’s kind of cool that he thought of me.

Then I started thinking about it more. It was like, Why not call me and have me come in there and give it? Why underuse me? Why put four bars of vocals to coax my fans into thinking this is a legitimate Kid Cudi feature on this song and it isn’t? I don’t know how to feel but I would’ve much rather been off that song. I don’t care to be on people’s songs like that. Unless it came from a legitimate session where we’re all vibing and have an idea.

This is interesting, considering that some people think “Too Bad I Have to Destroy You Now” is about Kanye

also interesting how that part of the song was better than cudi’s entire new ep

Its interesting how we don’t know these people at all but still can create beef.

I’m a cudi fan but judging by this this song which is satellite flight and what other people have been saying about his latest album (which they are saying it’s wack as fuck) I gotta say that cudi has lost his touch. This is not good or bad music. This is just horrible. Horrible music that shouldn’t be even heard by his fans and other people. I don’t even wanna listen to the cudi’s new album anymore cause i know that it will be a let down.

Cudi is garbage at this point & that shit hurts my heart cuz I was a huge fan. It’s honestly been steadily downhill for me since his first mixtape. Missing that old groove, no sense of soul in his music. Damn.

  • RELIGIOUSLESS

It wasn’t horrible. It’s like WZRD part 2…..

Agreed. He was under contract at GOOD Music when he made it. If he didn’t want Kanye using music he recorded with them, then don’t record with them. You don’t get to keep stuff and take it with you just cuz you’re no longer with them. It’s like any office job – they’ll use the stuff you worked on when you leave.
