Listen to James Blake’s “Roman Patience” and His Remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d. City”

James Blake took to the BBC Radio 1 airwaves again this evening (February 20, 7-9pm EST) for the second show of his residency series. Last time round he played his own remixes of Mystikal’s “Pay Me” and Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love,” as well as a new song called “40455″ (listen to them all here). Today we were treated to a wonderfully weird, skittish remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d. City,” which Blake says “he made on the plane.” Check it out below, and check back for a better quality version as soon as we have one.

UPDATE: James Blake also played an unreleased song called “Roman Patience,” which is heavy on the low end, and will be loved by fans of Blake’s Harmonimix of Mala’s “Changes.” You can listen to the whole (brilliant) show via the BBC here.

wow, that was actually pretty hard to listen to.

I guess once you have a name any trash you put out will be labeled “wonderfully weird” Get off James Blakes dick pigeons!!

  • rj

yikes yeah this is really bad.

  • x97sfinest

Completely expecting to hate it (love James but his remixes generally suck) and pleasantly surprised lol. The sample feels out of place but the track itself is nice.

  • Just Sayin!

This is horrible. Honestly. This sucks.

  • Tylor

If Kendrick hear this remix he will be m.A.A.d, because this sucks.

I guess it depends what you’re expecting. Blake’s “Harmonimix’ remixes always take songs out of their original context and turn them into something totally different. It’s probably not something I’ll come back and listen to next week, but there are definitely some moments that made me smile, like when that organ sound comes in at the beginning and again in the middle section when “yawk yawk” is looped. I can understand why people wouldn’t like it, but definitely not just dick riding.
