D/C – “Daughter, Daughter”

Way back when we featured D/C as a Daily Discovery, Jon Tanners mentioned British songwriter’s ability to tell stories with his “uniquely gifted vocal chords.” Just a few weeks after that initial post, D/C has found a home on P&P, and he’s back today with “Daughter, Daughter.”

There aren’t many parents who want their child to date a musician. We’re a volatile, emotional bunch prone to bursts of euphoric energy or a river of tears depending on the feelings we’re feeling. D/C tackles the problem by giving the musician’s side of things, waxing rhapsodic on the father that doesn’t want him around and the daughter that’s always on his mind.

The result is a soulful build of feverish percussion, organs, and a barely-there guitar that adds a final twinkle and polish. Stream “Daughter, Daughter” below:
