There are always some big-name surprises at SXSW, and this year looks to be no different, with Samsung just announcing that rap titans Jay Z and Kanye West will headline the first day of their four-day concert series. The duo will be performing on Wednesday night at a secret location that will be announced on the day of the show.
If you’re heading to Austin and are wondering how you can get to see this epic show, there’s one catch. Tickets will only be given to owners of Samsung Galaxy devices, who can pick up their wristbands at the Galaxy Experience pop-up location at 2nd Street and Trinity Street, starting Tuesday at 10am CT.
Jay Z has partnered with Samsung before, somewhat controversially streaming his last album Magna Carta Holy Grail on Samsung phones five days before its release as part of a deal in which the tech company bought 1 million copies of the record. There were, however, problems with both the app’s functionality and the legality of the way it took information from some user’s phones.
Hopefully this new partnership with Samsung will go a little bit smoother.
