Miguel ft. Wale – “Bennie and the Jets (Elton John Cover)”

Elton John’s going all out for the 40th anniversary of his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, which will be re-released next week with a live album CD, a DVD of his 1973 film, a 100-page illustrated book, and covers of all the songs from the album.

One of the more interesting covers pairs Miguel with Wale, who take on Elton’s “Bennie and the Jets.” The reimagining stays fairly faithful to the original, though not without some modern flairs here and there.

The box set and deluxe edition will also include covers by Emeli Sandé, Fall Out Boy, and Ed Sheeran. Listen to Miguel and Wale’s cover of “Bennie and the Jets” below.

Still nothing beats the Biz Markie version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iFYJYwtjpc

Gotta agree with Nerdy Dillinger, Biz Markie’s version has some life to it, Miguel’s is just a cover that doesn’t explore the song or improve it. My own version at a karaoke bar almost a decade ago kicked ass and I can’t sing. Miguel, make the song yours of shut the ef up.
