Philadelphia’s finest—otherwise known as The Roots—have just dropped “When The People Cheer,” a new track set to appear on their forthcoming LP, And Then You Shoot Your Cousin. The instrumental features tinkling piano keys, and prominent drum work from ?uestlove, while Black Thought laces the beat with a flow that alternates between unhinged and sober. All in all, it’s a poignant, tightly constructed track from the group that should have their fans salivating for the upcoming album.

And Then You Shoot Your Cousin is due May 13 via Def Jam.
