Watch Chance the Rapper’s “XXL” Freshmen Freestyle

The XXL Freshmen class of 2014 was loaded with stars like Rich Homie Quan, Isaiah RashadVic Mensa, and, of course, Chance the Rapper. Given the success of his latest mixtape Acid Rap, Chance’s inclusion in the group is a no-brainer.

And today, Chano kicked off the Freshmen freestyles portion of the honor by spitting an acapella verse for XXL. It’s certainly not what you’d expect from a typical freestyle, but given that it’s Chance the Rapper, should anyone be surprised? Chance drops a biblical, spoken-word verse meditating on his new-found fame and its implications. Watch the entire thing above.

ALL IN THE FAMILY: ARE YOU MORE LIKELY TO REACH FAME IF YOUR SIBLING IS A STAR?

This was dope. & kind of enlightening.

This is the first in a series of 4 EP’s that’ll be known as The Fore Seasons, which is a loosely based project themed around my past and present dealings. Spring Flings: The EP, themed around my relation’s with women in it’s own unique way, is a vivid, human, at times funny & honest portrayal of not just my experiences but those that could’ve happened to the average joe. I hope you all enjoy these tracks and don’t be afraid to spread the word! Thank you!
