Soundcloud Surfing is a weekly feature that is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of focusing on brand new music, we dig into the Soundcloud archives and pull out some gems. Enjoy, and check out previous editions here.

As access to the internet allows young musicians to delve into the sounds of the past and the present as they make the music of the future, there is a whole new wave of brilliant noise being made. Of course, artists have always looked to what has gone before for inspiration, but pre-internet it was impossible to jump from an early blues track to a dancehall riddim to the newest dance music craze in the span of ten minutes.

Forward-thinking electronic is mixing with pop, people are becoming more accepting of experimental sounds, whilst soulful voices look to try new things. Basically, pop music is in an exciting place right now, and the playlist below highlights just a very few of the artists making it that way.

Nice finding. A more understated alternate pop wouldn’t hurt your ear.
