Azealia Banks Claims She’s Left Her Record Label

It probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise, but Azealia Banks has announced via Twitter that she is leaving Interscope Records. After numerous delays, soured relationships, and beefs with pretty much everyone under the sun, her newly found independence makes sense. She seems pretty happy about it, and has tweeted her excitement regarding the news, “IM ABOUT TO GET OUT OF MY DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Her long-in-limbo debut album was originally given a release date of September 2012, and has yet to come out. Earlier this year she demanded to be let free from her label through Twitter, complaining that she was tired of the way her label handled things. According to Spin, Interscope has not yet confirmed the split.

Why was her album delayed anyway? What was her label even waiting for?

One can think what one wants about sour record label deals and whatnot, but the girl obviously has some issues. She recently cancelled her 4th show in a row in Norway (small country, no excuse tho), and two of those were even for the same annual festival. The latest excuse was that she didn’t want to make the 4 hour drive from the capital to the festival-area. She was finally IN the actual country, but didn’t bother going all the way. You do not get points for effort in this business. Being an artist is obviously hard, but it’s also hard to get rid of the infamy that follows with douche behavior.
