Los Angeles producer/singer Lincoln Jesser’s Facebook bio reads: “I’m just trynna have some fun.” His music is unabashed electro-pop, and he even uses some of those played out brostep womp-womps on his latest track, but even that can’t bring down the instant appeal of a chorus like the one that anchors “Certainty.”

When asked about that have-some-fun mentality, Jesser explains, “Music is my primary outlet for getting my energy out into the world in a way that connects to people. It’s catharsis and a medium for my joy, so not every song is going to be lighthearted, but every song helps me make sense of this world in one way or another.”

I think there is a lot of music out there these days which is good or entertaining or grabs you but is really just rooted in the present moment and won’t stand the test of time… I don’t make that kind of music.

His sound is modern, but it’s not all just capitalizing on what’s hot at the moment. “I think there is a lot of music out there these days which is good or entertaining or grabs you but is really just rooted in the present moment and won’t stand the test of time,” Jesser says. “I don’t make that kind of music.”

For now, he’s on a steady roll of releasing a song a month—check him out on SoundCloud—but there may be an album on the horizon. “I haven’t committed to an album yet,” he says. “But I feel myself becoming more and more ready to take that journey by the day.”
