"I come from Milwaukee WI, grew up on the Northside, 44th and Locust. Seen a lot, done a lot. Mother was a crack addict, daddy died when I was 17 years old. Seen him die while laying in the middle of the street. I've lived in shelters and slept in basements but I always kept a strong mind and always kept faith that tomorrow could be better. I started rapping in 3rd Grade, looked up to No Limit, Master P, Cash Money, Jay-Z, Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs & Harmony, all them. My favorite rapper is Lil Wayne though. I always looked at music as an escape route, it was never meant to become a serious career choice. It was something I used to get my frustration, pain and anger out. It wasn't until late last year that I understood that I could make a career out of music and that happened from just seeing people notice me for my music and understand me from my songs and even thank me for saying certain things in my music."

Before I even pressed play on the EP, Reggie Bonds began our conversation with this detailed introduction before going on to tell me the many goals and changes he wishes to see in the world. Music is his tool to implement these changes and DARKWAVE is the latest offering of what seems to be a long, calculated journey for the Milwaukee rapper. With co-production on nearly half of the project, Reggie curated a unique sound that has the bounce of the many catchy hits fans love and lyrical content that the listeners can take in and learn from.
