This video makes me miss nature. The closest I get to nature is the fucking goldfish in a bowl on my desk (Named him Pigeon. Love him.) Being around busy streets, traffic jams, concrete, and light pollution is getting old. I need to go camping, fishing, canoeing or something. Part of the reason I say this is random. Part of it is because I also feel similarly about music. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of electronically produced music full of synths, beats, and effects. From pop to hip-hop to rock, it seems like everyone is ditching their instruments and turning to computers. Nothing wrong with this, but it’s refreshing to see a band playing their instruments… in nature.
Chicago’s Maps & Atlases are excited to debut “Solid Ground” today, the first video from their debut full-length Perch Patchwork and announce tour dates this November across the midwest and east coast.
Directed by Taryn Gould and Emily Kowalczyk, “Solid Ground” depicts the quartet attempting to lure lead singer Dave Davison back ashore while he drifts between states of consciousness. Filmed over a weekend in the beautiful Berkshires in western Massachusetts the video debuted earlier on MTV2’s Subterranean and MTVu.
Hit the jump for tour dates and an awesome video of Maps & Atlases performing with an 8th grade drum line…
