A song as beautiful as Youth Lagoon‘s “17” deserves a video, right? Michelle Peña thought so. She is a film student in Baltimore, MD, and the song inspired her to make this unofficial video. They are beautiful visuals, honest and free of glamour. Michelle said:

I believe that audio is a definitive influence on the quality of a video, and that there are many emotions that one can attach songs that can equally be translated through film. So, at the end of July, I finally purchased a Canon t3i and was dying to shoot something beautiful before the end of summer.  Once I heard the song “17” from Youth Lagoon, I knew it was the perfect song for the short narrative I had been dreaming up for a while.

When I was seventeen, my mother said to me, “Don’t stop imagining, the day that you do is the day that you die.”

Youth Lagoon‘s debut album The Year Of Hibernation is streaming in full over at Spin. It comes out September 27th and you can pre-order it here. Hit the jump to watch…
