We first heard about Brooklyn band Friends in September with their debut single “Friend Crush“, which was the perfect introduction to the great mix of pop sensibility and the sexy, attitude filled voice of lead singer Samantha Urbani. Now with the video for their second release she’s back and cooler than ever. Just like their first single, new track “I’m His Girl” is based on a funky-ass bassline (that’s a technical term by the way) and some simple yet effective lyrics, but this time there’s the added bonus of not only some hand-claps, but any true musician’s favorite instrument – the cowbell.
Lucky person that you are, you don’t just get to listen to a great song with a bit of and vintage feel to it, you get a watch a painfully cool and all around awesome video featuring the lead singer in some super edgy apparel strutting around with a boombox. What could be better?
“I’m His Girl” will be released 31st October (pre-order here) backed by a cover of band favorite “My Boo” by the Ghost Town DJs. Hit the jump to check out the brilliant video, give the B-side a listen and find out Friends CMJ festival show times.
